Planning Our Two Christmas Dinners While Searching for #EqualCanada In #Starbucks – #CBias

This year, I will be doing two Christmas dinners. The first one will be a nice, small intimate dinner for my husband and myself which is highly unusual as there are always people here for Christmas dinner.  However, my granddaughter will be here to celebrate Christmas with us on boxing day. A perfect day for the big family meal but what to do. Should I go traditional for Boxing Day or traditional for our intimate dinner. Perhaps neither.

Decisions, decisions! Strangely, or not so strangely, I can’t think at home. Too many things going on and things that I should be doing. The phone rings or I get distracted.

So I decided to head over to Starbucks and treat myself to a yummy gingerbread latte. I’ll need energy to figure this out, so maybe a little something, something to go with it.

I arrived after the lunch rush, so it wasn’t too busy inside which was good. It would give me the opportunity to relax with my latte and figure out my menu’s.

I ordered a gingerbread latte grande and a bagel with cream cheese. Unfortunately, no bagels whatsoever. I guess going after lunch isn’t always a great idea. Well, I tried to be good. Instead, I ordered a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie and asked the girl if they had any sweetners. Not that I wanted to use sweetener but I was interested in whether or not they offered any or if they offered a choice. As luck would have it, not only did they offer sweetener but they offered a choice of 3. One of which was Equal.

I was pleased to see the choice. Not all sweeteners taste the same and I believe when you are visiting a restaurant or small shop, you should have choices.

I spoke with the manager who was very nice and asked whether or not individual Starbucks decided what they used. She said no. It was a corporate decision. They told her what products be would available for use. All Starbucks provide the same service.

I was pleased to hear this. Even though I don’t use sweetener, my husband does. I know we can go into any starbucks and he’ll be able to get his brand of sweetener. Not only my husband but anyone else who uses sweetener. I have a friend who carries her brand in her purse. That way she knows she can get it.

Now the question is, did I get my menu’s planned? Yes indeed! Two non-traditional dinners. My intimate dinner with my husband will be stuffed pork chops and our big family meal will be a smorg. It will contain some traditional items and some not so traditional.

Sweet!
