Going For A Run? Have A Banana And Peanut Butter Energizer Smoothie First!

What is the best energizing drink to have before a run?

If you’ve had a long day at work, you are sure to be feeling tired, drained of energy and in need of something to eat. But rather than simply popping into your local fast-food chain and buying fries or a hamburger (which is actually more likely to make you feel bloated and sluggish) why not try to eat something which is healthy and will give you some energy?

If you’ve decided to kick-start a healthy lifestyle then you may have already looked at some of my under 500 calorie recipes. However, it isn’t just about eating healthily it is also about exercising, so why not go out for a run before you settle in for the night with a game of bingo at Binguez and a movie? Going for a run or a long vigorous walk several times a week will certainly make the difference. But after a tiring day at work, you may not really feel like going out for a run which is why I have put together a great little energizing fruit smoothie recipe which is sure to give you that much needed energy boost.

Banana and peanut butter energizer

Bananas are full of potassium and vitamins which help to give you long lasting energy. Plus just one spoonful of chunky peanut butter provides a lot of protein which helps to fill you up and give you plenty of energy.

1 banana
A splash of skimmed milk
A tablespoon of natural yoghurt
A teaspoon of honey
A tablespoon of peanut butter

It couldn’t be easier, simply place all the ingredients in a food processor and blend. Add in a few ice cubes to make it more chunky and thick. Alternatively, add in some extra yoghurt or milk to make your drink more creamy.
