Hi everyone! I’m LaQuita, creator and main blogger over at Just Us Girls. You can find tons of reviews/giveaways on Just Us Girls and from time to time we like to share crafts, do it yourself mini projects and recipes. Today I am so honoured to be guest posting and sharing with you a craft project that my son and I did a couple of weeks ago.
I am in no way a gardener and I don’t even really have that “green thumb,” but I do love trying new crafts with my kids and so while I was looking on pinterest for some new ideas I came across, “Egg Carton Planters.” This is perfect to do with your little ones outside and especially during the Spring. I loved how easy it was for my four year old to do it himself and he loved being able to do it without mommy’s help. I hope you and your little ones enjoy this easy-peasy craft project as well.
DIY: EGG CARTON PLANTERS:
What You Need:
Egg carton (foam or cardboard carton is okay)
Crayons, markers or paint (optional)
Soil
Small Seeds (Like Herbs)
Directions:
Cut the top off of the foam or cardboard carton and discard it, leaving only the long cup area. Since there are 12 planters you can either plant twelve seeds in them or you can do what I did. I cut ours in four sets of 3 planters and doubled them so that the planters were stronger and would hold. So I made one and my son made one.
Optional to let your kids decorate the outsides of the cartons with paints, markers or crayons.
Add a small amount of potting soil to each cup and help the children place seeds into each.
Once the plant outgrows the small area, you can easily change it over to a bigger pot or you can plant the egg carton planters right into your garden once it’s finished so it can grow with the rest of your plants.
