Vintage Ads – I Am So Hooked July 4, 2012

Vintage ads are a personal favorite of mine. They explore the past and show us how far/or not we’ve come in the world of marketing.

There’s nothing like teaching them young!

Thank goodness we’ve progressed (I hope) No more targeting the kids. They learn soon enough. Pic found here

Some of these vintage ads are sexist and even outrageous but all of them show just how far our world has come. Our attitudes and technology have changed. I often shake my head when I come across these ads and wonder “what were they thinking”. I truly hope that 50 years from now we can see further development. I hope you’re enjoying them as much as I am.

A lot of vintage ads are extremely sexist and problematic, but I do enjoy the vintage ads that focused on women’s bodies in the sense that they weren’t all about being super skinny and giving the impression that you can never be skinny enough. That is one way our society has progressed that makes me pause and wonder what is going on.
