It’s amazing to me how many people cut their favourite foods out of their diet when they are trying to lose a few pounds. Take KFC chicken for example. My husband and I love it! I have no intention of giving it up but neither do I want to gain weight. What to do?
Eat Smart
The picture you see above is my dinner from last night. A 15 pc bucket will make 5 dinners for my husband and myself. Fortunately, I like the white meat and my hubby is a fan of the dark. Works out great.
On my plate you can see 1 KFC chicken breast at 360 calories as per their website, 1 1/2 cups of salad (50 cal) and 1 cup spaghetti squash “spaghetti” (137 cal) for a grand total of approx 547 calories.
So dinner takes about 15 minutes to prepare. Fast food meal and fits into a 1500 calorie a day diet when you’re trying to lose a little.
Not too shabby, huh. The nice thing about this is you can cook the spaghetti squash ahead of time and freeze it into meal time portions. Thaw and heat with butter and spices or with a mixture of tomato, tomato sauce, italian seasoning, garlic and a spoonful of onion soup mix. Too simple. Quick, delicious and nutritious.

I am a huge fan of spaghetti squash. Great way to cut back on carbs and eats something with some nutrition, and it tastes great. If you ever see organic spaghetti squash be sure to try it. They are more expensive but, wow, have so much more flavour!!
Great post. I’m not a fan of KFC but I do support the idea of enjoying your favorite things in moderation. Being healthy is all about the big picture!

I would never have thought to eat KFC while I’m desperately trying to lose weight…your meal looks delicious, thanks for this post.
I love their chicken LOL but I don’t recommend the salads as anything lean – doesn’t matter if its the mac or pot or slaw, I’d recommend you stay away from them
personally when I buy, I get the gravy instead of the salad (they just swap it out, same price)
I like to make my own salads and sides to go with the chicken. Better control over what you’re getting
def as you don’t know whats in the sauces for those salads and how much is oil and how many perservatives are in there

Lifestyle change for healthier eating in our family as well : For a meal with 547 calories – nice to know – as I don’t want to give up KFC either. Never tried spaghetti squash – so that is going to be a new item on our menu of change. ty.
