Hands Free Parking With @FordCanada #FordEscape

Following our “road” incident, we headed on to CrossIronMills and the events that had been scheduled for us there by Ford Canada. They had an electric car, park assist, make a movie, treats and more. Since we were late and didn’t want to hold up anyone any longer than necessary, my husband and I chose two items to do.

First, we chose park assist or hands free parking. Now I had seen this done last year but had not actually experienced it for myself.

I thought because I’d seen it, I was prepared. However, your natual driving instincts want to take over and you have to resist. You put the SUV or car into the park assist mode. The vehicle will  then beep and let you know when you are approaching a parking spot that it will fit into. You drive past the spot until the vehicle beeps again. You are ready to park. Put the car into reverse and let go of the wheel. You only control the gas and the break. The car does the rest. It will beep at you and let you know when you are parked and a flatline tone to let you know you are as close to the rear vehicle behind you as you can go. You can now go forward a bit or put the car into park.

It’s so strange to do. Your hands want to automatically control where your vehicle is going. I’m proud to say I resisted and my SUV parked itself beautifully!!!

Coming soon,  the next thing on my agenda at this stop. I became a star. A true blue actor and experienced an adventure I never thought I’d do. Skydiving!!! Ok, I didn’t really skydive but isn’t that what the movies are all about?

Watch for my post on this one!

I can understand how difficult it would be to give up control of that car! lol

Wow! I bet that was weird to let the car park itself! What a neat feature in the new Ford Escape!

I saw that on the Amazing race, love to test dive one of those.
